Ecotourism In Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Riviera Maya
The concept of Ecotourism in Playa del Carmen is catching on.
As the Mayan Riviera continues to boom, development sometimes seems to be out of control. But luckily developers, business owners and citizens of Playa del Carmen are all starting to come together to make a change.
There’s many things we can do on a personal level to make a difference like visiting and supporting natural places in the area such as:
- Punta Laguna
- Calakmul Reserve
- Sian Ka’an
- Rio Lagartos
- Isla Contoy
- La ruta de los cenotes (The Cenote Trail)
- So many other great cenotes!
It’s obvious that we can all make a difference by living a little lighter on the planet and doing things like riding a bike in Playa instead of driving or using less electricity and water. But real estate developers can make a really big difference simply by making better decisions when designing and building new condos in Playa del Carmen and the many new Tulum condos being built.
This is what Jungle Realtor is all about and we are always looking for the developers and condo projects that are using sustainable building practices and preserving green areas and mangroves.
In fact, when you take a look around Playa and on the bike path in Tulum you will see a lot of new trees being planted. Even the city of Playa del Carmen is making some greener changes and the mayor, not long ago, authorized a tree planting initiative.
Little by little, the Riviera Maya is moving towards ecotourism in Playa del Carmen and all over Quintana Roo. There will be some growing pains for sure, and some developments will not move forward if they endanger Cenotes and our precious groundwater. Like a rocket flying fast through the sky, Playa del Carmen has grown, and the need for sustainable building and more developers who care has grown too. At Jungle Realtor we care about the Riviera Maya. Our home and yours.
