Why are the cenotes in the Riviera Maya so attractive?

The answer is very easy, it is a natural spectacle. To start with the vegetation that surrounds them is amazing. When you reach one of these wonderful cenotes of the Riviera Maya, you will find a vast diversity in flora, which gives multiple shades of green to these natural lagoons that are nourished by subterranean waters, formed over millions of years.

Fresh water. In an area where most of the year we have very warm temperatures, to reach a cenote and sit in some shade or swim in its fresh waters is a very pleasant satisfaction for tourists and locals alike.

Colors. Depending on what is in the bottom of the cenote, there can be a beautiful water color. In Quintana Roo, most cenotes have an impressive color.

Sweet water. After swimming for many days in the waves of the Mexican Caribbean, sometimes our skin deserves a break from so much salt. The advantage, and reason for the preference of the cenotes, is that they are fresh water, providing a rest to the body.

There is no current. Many fear the waves of the sea, perhaps a negative experience or worry because the smallest of the family do not know the danger and could expose themselves to the current. The advantage of the cenotes is just that, there is not a notorious current as in rivers or beaches.

Fauna. Thanks to the crystal clear water of these lagoons, you can spot small fish that approach you when you are still. There are even reptiles sunbathing very close to these cool cenotes.

Jumping area. Although not all the cenotes have the necessary depth to dive in, most have an area for the brave who like to jump into the water, doing it from a platform of 2 to 4 meters (depending on the cenote).
