Xcaret is just 50 minutes from Cancun International Airport and only 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen; it is recognized in the Riviera Maya for its attractive water parks, along with one of the most representative hotels in the world. On reopening its doors, the most important consideration will be to ensure the safety of its staff and of guests visiting its facilities after the lockdown. Xcaret’s parks, restaurant and hotel will therefore be operating at 50% capacity and guests luggage will be disinfected.
Safety measures will be divided into 4 topics: disinfection, physical distancing, control measures focusing on people, and a venue dealing specifically with food and beverages. All products used for disinfection will be 100% biodegradable to preserve the parks’ environment, as well as the hotel itself.
Another important issue concerns the parks’ and hotel’s toilets, showers and changing rooms, which will be cleaned using certified hospital-grade products; the same standard will be used for laundering towels and bedding. Those measures will also be used for transportation: vehicles will operate at 50% of their occupancy, guests’ temperature will be taken, they will board a disinfected vehicle following appropriate distancing protocols, and their shoes and luggage will also be disinfected.
In the parks, certain infrastructure changes in infrastructure will be carried out: several disinfection areas will be available for washing and disinfecting hands with gel, and a sanitation kit containing reusable face masks and gel will be provided on arrival: designated refuse cans will also be installed for the disposal of these materials as sanitary waste.
Regarding food and beverages, “assisted buffet”; service will be provided, meaning park and hotel service staff will serve food to diners to avoid contact with utensils. All staff will also be equipped with a mask and face mask, in addition to ensuring that none of the servers are in contact with food before it is eaten.
Those measures will be implemented by Grupo Xcaret as of June 15, the date envisaged for Xcaret’s
reopening of tourism activities in the Riviera Maya.
